2007. Integrating Stream Ecology into Stormwater Infrastructure Management, Waitakare City.
New Zealand Water and Waste Conference 2007 (Young and Clarke)
This paper describes the method of assessment used in the stream and asset survey carried out for the Lincoln and Rewarewa Streams in Waitakere City (WC) in 2006.
The stream assessment was largely conducted as per the guidelines provided by Auckland Regional Council (ARC) in Technical Publication 232 (TP 232) Framework and Management of Urban Streams in the Auckland Region (August 2004).
The method described represents a fresh and integrative approach in the validation of location, assessment of condition and evaluation of environmental impacts of stormwater infrastructure. Stream and asset survey information has become a powerful planning tool and is an important step towards the development of Integrated Catchment Management Plans (ICMP’s) and infrastructure maintenance.
